Look Back, Learn, Move Forward

Looking-Back-Moving-ForwardIn fact, as i write this, we are three quarters of the way through 2015, so it’s time to look back over the previous 9 months and have an honest evaluation of your accomplishments, successes and failures going forward into the last 3 months of the year.

By looking back, it helps to evaluate what worked and what didn’t.  Some things during that time seem to have been replayed over and over again. That diet you wanted to start (even though diets don’t work), the debt you wanted to pay off, the gym membership you wanted to get use out of and all of the other things you had planned to do at the start of the year.

How many of these things did you actually see through? Or worse still, how many of these things did you not even start? 🙁

Everything in life is a matter of perspective. No one passes through this life without knowing pain and heartache. Add to this regret over lost opportunities, wrong choices and wrong decisions you make on an almost daily basis. These things do not define your life on their own because it’s the lessons learned from these and the determination to do things better that truly define who you are as a person. Just reap the precious nuggets and insights from the muddle and keep moving forward.

Let me ask you a question…

How well do you take care of your mental, physical and spiritual self? If you believe in taking care of your mental and spiritual well-being, your physical health will definitely reap the benefits. Do you allow yourself time alone to enjoy the peace and quiet away from the madness of everyday life?

Have you learned to say NO to people when they’ve asked you to do something that wasn’t in your best interests. Do you take time to appreciate the beauty of those things and people in your life that if they weren’t here, your life would have less meaning? Do you get stress and agitated at the slightest sign of negativity or problems?

These are all important questions that need to be asked on a regular basis and need to be answered positively if you’re going to move forward into the future.

Stress alone is the scourge of 21st century living in the fast lane and getting caught up in the pursuit of material successes and everyday problems. Consider seriously the levels of your stress over the past few years and how it affected your health. Think about this carefully because high stress levels impact on your relationships, career, family and your life as a whole if it is not dealt with immediately.

Don’t let things fester and blow up into problems that can’t be controlled. Deal with them at the first hint of problems so you can move forward with your life in a more even tempered manner.

If you have a particular dream or have something that you really want to do, go after it with everything you’ve got and don’t be sidetracked by day to day living.  Perhaps it’s time to re-assess that dream if your feelings have changed. There are other avenues in life to pursue if you so wish. Don’t get stuck chasing after something that’s lost its value to you. Don’t let life pass you by like most of the worlds population do.

Have a plan, dreams, ambitions and goals and set time frames to achieving each and every one of them. Live with passion and look back over your past and accommodate those changes into your future.

Look back honestly but kindly and move on.

Till next time…
